Any niche has the ability to make a difference in the lives of others. The niche you tap into with your podcast could create a movement, but it first starts with you. Are you ready?

Meet Your Instructor: Dr. Ariel D. Smith

If it's one thing Ariel knows how to do, it is create her own lane. In 2018 Ariel launched The Food Truck Scholar to highlight the stories of Black entrepreneurs in the food truck industry. Starting with YouTube and Instagram Live, Ariel quickly began to build traction with her platform, with her second guest being a contestant from Food Network's Great Food Truck Race. By March 2019, The Food Truck Scholar released its first podcast episode and the food truck industry hasn't been the same since.

As the first podcast to focus on the storytelling side of the food truck industry and the first to center primarily Black voices in the mobile food world, The Food Truck Scholar tapped into a niche that created a food truck community. From helping aspiring food truck owners find mentors, to seasoned food truckers learning new tips, to food truck apps gaining new users and vendors, to attorneys providing education to benefit business owners at all stages-- The Food Truck Scholar Podcast has been a hub for it all.

Because of her niche, Ariel has been recognized as a leader in food truck and podcasting spaces. Her podcast has been recognized by numerous platforms including Cuisine Noir and TimeOut Magazine.

She has spoken on some of the largest stages in the podcasting industry including Podfest Multimedia Expo and Blk Pod Festival. Ariel has consulted universities, nonprofits, realtor associations, and countless individuals on the art of creating podcasts with niches.
